Dr. Mark Fleming

CoreLogic - Chief Economist

Dr. Mark Fleming is director of economics for CoreLogic, a leading provider of mortgage risk management and fraud protection solutions to the residential mortgage banking industry. Fleming has ten years of experience in the housing finance and property information business and leads the economics and research team at CoreLogic. He is responsible for developing the collateral and credit risk models (the basis of the CoreLogic product suite) through economic analysis and real estate market monitoring and analysis of real estate and mortgage market trends.


Prior to working at CoreLogic, Fleming worked at Fannie Mae, where he developed property valuation models designed as part of collateral assessment applications used in mortgage origination, quality control and loss mitigation. He also managed a model development and implementation team responsible for maintenance and development of collateral model production code and datasets for mortgage origination software and automated property valuation applications.


Fleming has published his research on spatial econometrics in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics and Geographic Information Sciences, and is published in the book "Advances in Spatial Econometrics." He has also presented his work at many conferences, including speaking engagements at three Regional Science Association International Annual Meetings. He is also a member of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association and the Regional Science Association of America.


Fleming obtained his Master of Science and his Doctorate in Agricultural & Resource Economics at the University of Maryland. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Swarthmore College.
